From Empty Shell to Thriving Store: A Retail Fit-Out Story
KAPCHER Team
KAPCHER Architecture | Interiors

A step-by-step account of how we converted a bare commercial unit into a fully operational, brand-aligned retail space in under eight weeks.
Eight weeks. That was the window between lease commencement and the client's planned opening event. For most fit-out contractors, that would be an uncomfortable conversation. For KAPCHER, it was a project we'd essentially done before — not the specific design, but the operational challenge of compressing a complex commercial fit-out into an aggressive timeline without compromising quality.
Week One: The Programme is Everything
The first week of an accelerated project isn't spent on site — it's spent on planning. Every trade, every material delivery, every inspection and sign-off is mapped onto a single master programme with zero float. Critical path items are identified and placed under daily monitoring. Suppliers are briefed on the timeline before contracts are signed — if they can't commit, we find alternatives immediately rather than discovering the problem in week five.
